Hayer Health is a family-run physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinic in South Vancouver, operating since 2022. The team includes physiotherapists, registered massage therapists, kinesiologists, and osteopathic manual therapists, offering personalized, patient-centered treatment for injury recovery, chronic pain, and active living. Located near Marine Drive, the clinic serves patients across South Vancouver’s Sunset, Langara, Oakridge, Marpole, River District, and Fraserview communities.
Physiotherapy is one of the most saturated local healthcare categories online. Vancouver lists well over 400 physiotherapy providers (YellowPages.ca, 2026), and Hayer Health wasn’t just competing citywide, it was competing block by block, with other clinics clustered along the same stretch of SE Marine Drive and scattered across the neighboring Oakridge, Marpole, and Sunset communities it also serves. In a market this dense, ranking on page one wasn't a nice-to-have, it was the difference between being the clinic a patient calls and being a name they scroll past.
That challenge was compounding with a bigger shift in how people search altogether. Healthcare queries now trigger an AI-generated answer, a Google AI Overview, a ChatGPT reply, a Gemini summary, more often than in almost any other industry: an estimated 88% of health-related searches now surface an AI Overview before a traditional list of blue links even appears (BrightEdge, Feb 2026). Across all search categories, AI Overviews went from appearing in roughly 15% of Google searches to 43% in a single year (Similarweb, 2026), and ChatGPT alone now sees over 900 million weekly users, more than double the number from a year earlier (OpenAI, Feb 2026). Patients weren’t just Googling “physiotherapy near me” anymore, they were asking an AI assistant to recommend one, and if Hayer Health wasn’t part of that answer, it didn’t matter how good the clinic was.
Hayer Health was starting from behind on both fronts. Through the back half of 2025, the site’s average Google ranking sat at position 41.8, buried at the bottom of page 4, well past where most patients ever scroll. It had zero presence in Google’s AI Overviews and zero referral traffic from AI assistants like ChatGPT or Gemini. In a category where being findable increasingly meant being recommended by an algorithm the patient never sees, Hayer Health was effectively invisible on both the old map and the new one.
Rely Digital’s strategy paired traditional SEO, service-page optimization, technical fixes, and targeted content, like a dedicated guide to fascial stretch therapy, with an emerging focus on Answer Engine Optimization (AEO): structuring content so it could be surfaced and cited directly inside AI-generated answers on Google, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Bing Copilot, not just traditional blue links.
Between July-December 2025 and January-July 2026, Hayer Health’s average Google ranking climbed from position 41.8 to 17.8, moving from page 4 to page 2, while search impressions nearly doubled on both Google (+70%) and Bing (+68%). That growing visibility didn’t stay confined to traditional search results. Google began surfacing Hayer Health content inside AI Overviews starting in May 2026, and that presence grew fast: fewer than 1,000 AI Overview appearances in May, 3,871 in June, and 4,440 in July. The same three months produced Hayer Health’s first-ever bookings sourced directly from AI assistants, one in May, one in June, and three in July, the same month AI visibility peaked. In just three months, being discoverable inside AI-generated answers went from theoretical to a direct source of new patients.
